A News System and MOS-Compliant solution completely based on Etere Automation

Etere News offers an integrated environment based on the Etere Automation core to give a complete workflow for the news management. The newsroom system integrates with the existing functions of Etere (i.e.: ingestion, media asset management, browsing, automation and as run log). Standard tasks on an indefinite number of video contents can be easily handled (e.g.: Time-recordings, recording cuts, naming, etc.).
Etere News interfaces all newsrooms based on existing MOS to provide the most effective and flexible solution. It is fault tolerant and the interface is user friendly and doesn’t require particular software expertise.
This is a must-have solution for journalists who want to be ahead in producing their own high quality news programs.
Etere News is an Automation open system based on a modular architecture.
The overall system can grow freely. There is no limit to adding remote devices (i.e.: video servers, switchers, logo generators, routers, video storage systems, etc. by: RS 422, TCP/IP Ethernet or GPI). Etere News extends the traditional concept of news environment. All news management aspects are covered. Remote control of newsroom and post-production is provided as well. This approach gives a cost effective technology without the trouble of integrating different suppliers. Etere News can use different ingestion sources:

ETERE NEWS MAIN FEATURES

Etere News main features are:
• Etere Browsing integration provides user friendly software to be easily handled by journalists. It has got core tasks to view and record high and low resolution synchronized events. The low-resolution is used to easily link, with frame precision, the highresolution EDL to run. Thanks to Etere Browsing, journalists can readily make their own EDL straightaway from their PC. They can access the same video contents using past and cut functions to link an unlimited number of EDL. Using Etere Browsing, complex Decision Lists (EDL) can also be edited, describing the video with:
• Commercial insertion points
• Bulk videos which don’t have to be broadcasted
• Segments of special interest
• Media Asset Management (MAM) provides metadata indexing to correctly retrieve a video or a part of it from the database.Metadata can be edited to describe as much as possible any useful part of the video. MAM can be related to both tapes and preview quality clips
• OCX MOS integration enhances researches and preview features. Retrieved low quality video files can be previewed from the News interface straightaway
• Metadata discover module analyses the video and automatically makes metadata entries based on: scene changes, black images, no-sounds parts, subtitles, MXF metadata. All the metadata entries can be edited later on. Etere stores metadata per frame. Metadata can be set as keywords using templates rather than free text so that
later searches are effective, faster and more coherent
• People Support: in the video news management, it is important to know who is doing what. Etere provides a customized list of people and roles. The same person can be easily found in different contexts and vice versa.
The relational structure offers an easy way to insert any kind of metadata
• Multilanguage Management: keywords force people to use the same parameters to describe a scene. There is no chance of typing errors. Languages can be shifted without metadata loss
• User Friendly Interface: Etere News has got a very intuitive interface whose functions are perfectly suitable for last minute changes (i.e.: play/stop/rewind)
