Etere Automation

Etere Automation can freely upgrade to Etere Media Manager, the recommended solution to manage the whole network video assets. Nowadays, even the smallest broadcasters use systems more complex than just one video-server and one archive. A typical system usually runs multiple ingestion points, multiple play-outs and integrates with several production systems.

Etere Media Manager

Etere Media Manager plays a key role in handling videos. The Advanced Data Storage and Retrieval System establishes automatic root-path relations between devices and video contents. Several videoservers and archives can be managed as a unique device. At the correct time, clips are correctly sent to the dedicated device to be either broadcasted or just displayed. Etere Media Manager plays a key role in handling videos. The Advanced Data Storage and Retrieval System establishes automatic root-path relations between devices and video contents. Several videoservers and archives can be managed as a unique device. At the correct time, clips are correctly sent to the dedicated device to be either broadcasted or just displayed. Media Manager exchanges video files between archives and videoservers. Files are automatically deleted when they are no longer needed with consequent resources optimization. Free hard disk space is always ready to receive new clips. It has also got an integrated Mirroring Solution and a Backup Manager to cope with Fault tolerant systems based on two Video Servers with play-list mirroring. Media Manager can perform a Dynamic Backup Update, a type of intelligent play-list copy needed when video-servers with different capacities are involved in the mirroring. Media Manager, as mentioned before, is used to exchange data between video-servers and archives, but it is not an archive manager (in this case we recommend using Etere Archive Manager and one or more data movers).

Etere Archive Manager

Etere Archive Manager is the perfect solution to proficiently manage digital archives. Archive Manager expands the video server capacity deploying innovative hi-speed technologies at competitive prices. The software can remote control both digital and tape libraries (i.e. deep archives). Videos are moved from the video server to the digital library and vice versa according to their respective metadata. Etere Archive Manager is a must-have when broadcasters adopt diskbased libraries. It integrates with all other Etere automation solutions providing all the Etere MAM features, adding browsing and preview capability to the archived video materials.

Etere HSM

Etere HSM integrates with the Media Asset Management SQL database and can be oriented to either tapes or video clips. MAM can eventually relate metadata to any single video clip frame. Thanks to the MAM indexing, a complete video or a part of if can be easily retrieved. Etere HSM is able to handle multiple copies of a tape (i.e. up to three copies that can be held in the library itself or stored in different places to ensure major security). Etere HSM, as well as all other Etere Software Solutions, has got its own MS Windows drivers to remote control most of the libraries on the market. Etere HSM enhances the management of libraries by controlling their mechanical movements through the following utilities:
- Robotic arm manager
- Data Pumps manager, which can run several Data Pumps on different machines to boost their throughput
Etere solution meets all customers requirements as it is modular in managing slots, libraries and data pumps. It provides Proactive Cache Management and intelligent algorithms for the best video content storage, with consequent optimization and great reduction in hardware investments.

The Proactive Cache Management looks at the future scheduling to fill up the cache in advance with the necessary video contents. The Proactive Cache Management memorizes operators' previews and caches videos in order to give ready answers to any further request. In this way, video contents can be delivered without overcrowding the system. Etere HSM also has a 'library refresh function' to periodically test the status of tapes preventing last minute drawbacks.
