SIS was formed in 1980 by the partners Fabio Gattari, currently President and Fabio Mazzocchetti.

Gattari was already the proprietor of GBElettronica (a company which provided technical assistance with high and low frequency equipment to local radio stations) as well as a partner and programmer in EFFE Computers (a company which developed software for the legal profession).

SIS immediately began to work with the personal computer networks which had just been launched on the market. So the development of SETA began; this was a management system for legal offices which imposed itself on the market because of its power, simplicity and high level of compatibility with network systems.

In 1989, putting to use the know-how inherited from GBElettronica, SIS became involved in private broadcasting with the ETERE software; this was created to resolve the administrative problems of broadcasters and advertising agencies and has so far been adopted by over 600 radio and television stations.

In view of the widespread use of the program, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has officially adopted the ETERE system for the whole of Italy.

In the second half of 1993 SIS launched the first professional system for the handling of audio signals based on personal computers and fully integrated both with administrative software and with network services.

Furthermore ETERE was certified by Novell as the software for local networks (the YES program).

In December 1993 more than 40 broadcasters replaced their traditional broadcasting systems with networks of personal computers driven by ETERE software.

In 1994, because of its flexibility and modularity, ETERE was adopted by the biggest national broadcasting companies and by very many small or medium-sized businesses, including television companies. The same year saw the birth of RD72, the first digital video recorder using a hard disk, with innovative technology developed entirely in Italy.

In January 1995 the first completely automatic TV broadcasting system was installed; thanks to ETERE TV software it combined the digital technology of the RD72 with tape video recorders.

ETERE is an open control system which interfaces with more than 50 different automation systems.

In April 1999 SIS decides to split in two different companies; ETERE remains in SIS and the new SIS Nord Italia receives the whole Public notaries software business. This parting allows SIS to better focus on its main business as well as on a new aggressive approach to the Automation market.

At present, ETERE is used by the two terrestrial channels and by the satellite stations of RAI and Canal+. Broadcasting stations on the air with an ETERE Automation system are more than 650 all over the world: this is a source of great satisfaction for ETERE, and the best guarantee you can ask for.

In September 2000 SIS srl changes its name after its software and becomes ETERE srl.

By the end of the year 2000, ETERE made a decision to move its database towards the Microsoft SQL2000 ® platform, and all to guarantee major speed, data safety and interchangeability of platforms.

ETERE's Department of Research & Development dedicated its work to the management of News and to ETERE Logger. In two months time, 3 ETERE Logger have been installed: for the second edition of the "Big Brother", for Logos TV (the largest archive worldwide, dedicated to football) and for football Highlights, at RAI Trade, and it results being a huge and unexpected success.

Besides EVS Broadcast Equipment, even Leitch and Omneon wish to have interfaces for their videoservers.

ETERE Automation had a nominee for the best TV automation software two years in a row: 2000 and 2001. A jury composed by people working in the broadcast market, sponsored by the Broadcast & Production magazine, directly assigned award and the first price.

During 2001, ETERE has participated to many events where they had a great success. Some of those exhibitions are NAB, BroadcastAsia, IBC, IBTS, DTV European Tour 2001, FOR-A Open house in Japan, INTER BEE in Tokyo.

ETERE ends the year 2001 with great success: MTV Italy, Max Media (the station from Missoula in Montana), CENTER TV (the main TV station form Moscow) chose ETERE for the On-air broadcast system.

ETERE 12, the upgrade for the year 2002, is entirely developed in SQL.

During 2002, ETERE was adopted by NOVA TV (Croatian channel), by RAI (for managing and programming the new commercial installation for all 3 RAI networks) by Antenna TV (the Greek TV station that broadcasts in the whole country) and others TV station.

In January 2003, SOLAR Entertainment Corporation's uplink station with ETERE and has won for the 3rd year in a roll the Broadcast Award as the best TV automation software.

In May 2003, ETERE has decided to bring up a big new to its Customer Support Service: the service is going to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

ETERE reinforces its power on the broadcast worldwide market. In the autumn 2003 won 2 tenders: TV Medicina and Canal Saude (Portuguese satellite channel) and Vijay TV (Indian channel)

ETERE started the 2004 with 2 big successes: 4 Filipino channels of ABS-CBN Global Ltd and CH-3 (Thailand channel) have chosen ETERE Automation to manage their schedule and automation.
