Etere Launches Main and Backup NDI® Connection

Etere launches double NDI® connections with a redundant connection automatically activated. Etere always keeps your system running with reliability, even in the case of a single device failure.

To deliver a top broadcast system at all times, Etere has added the double NDI connections to all its systems. This allows a consistent video stream even in the case of a single device failure. Additionally, Etere's distributed architecture provides a high level of availability at all times. Etere equips broadcasters with a backup NDI connectivity that is always ready to replace the main NDI connection in case it is not working.

The Etere Full IP Playout solution leverages the benefits of Network Device Interface (NDI), a highly flexible standard developed by Newtek that enables multiple video systems to identify and communicate with one another over IP. NDI is a royalty free standard that enables operators to encode, transmit and receive multiple streams of high quality, low latency, frame-accurate video and audio in real-time.

The backup NDI connection is activated automatically if connection with the main is lost or if a single device failure has occurred at any stage of the workflow. It can also run on manual mode that requires manual switching to activate the backup NDI connection. To monitor and manage multiple IP channels, users can leverage on Etere ETX-M IP Multiviewer that allows users to manage and monitor multiple inputs of network and live video sources simultaneously on a single interface. It is able to support up to 9 display monitors and 30 input sources at any point of time.

About Network Device Interface (NDI)
NDI stands for Network Device Interface. NDI is a royalty free standard developed by NewTek that enables multiple video systems to identify and communicate with one another over IP as well as to encode, transmit and receive many streams of high quality, low latency, frame-accurate video and audio in real-time. Etere has supported Newtek NDI technology since 2014 when its IT-based channel-in-a-box system, Etere ETX was integrated with NDI support. NDI is able to run over existing 1 Gigabit networks, allowing easy adoption of the protocol without the need for new infrastructure. This is achieved through the use of video data compression with the NDI codec which delivers 1080 full HD video at VBR data rates around 100mBit/seconds.
