RAI (Radiotelevisione italiana) is the Italian state owned public service broadcaster controlled by the Ministry of Economic Development. RAI is the biggest television company in Italy, and operates, using Etere’s standard and tailored solutions, many television channels stations including both analogue and digital terrestrial, as well as satellite offerings.

This paper describes how all VSTV’s specifications can be satisfied by the solution proposed by Etere, describing its architecture and identifying the functional advantages and benefits offered by a system able to manage and streamline the most important phases of VSTV’s playout workflow with a wide set of cutting edge applications that goes from to an accurate contents management to an automatic delivery of contents.

U-LIFE has required Etere to implement a simple but powerful application able to transmits media content independently from the main system and directly across one or more channels.
