10 September 2007

Etere HSM is the only product to manage videoservers, disks, digital tapes and video tapes all in the same environment.

When managing huge archives, broadcasters need innovative archiving and acquisition workflows able to deliver previously unavailable capabilities.
XDCAM media is becoming a standard, but how can one convert all the thousand of hours that a television has into archive?
Etere HSM makes this work easy by moving and optimizing video contents in order to save space. Contemporarily Etere auto archive simplifies this procedure saving time and money. Etere HSM is the only product to manage videoservers, disks, digital tapes and video tapes all in the same environment. This same function also grants its users a rapid file access.
How Etere auto archive works with an XDCAM cart
Etere auto archive automatically stores the selected video used for transmission in an XDCAM disk.

Etere can read details about a disk content from a cart disk

Etere auto archive can operate in 2 different ways. If the transmission facility uses an MXF format compatible with XDCAM, Etere simply moves the files to the disk using the XDCAM gigabit interface. However, if the format is not compatible, Etere uses a SDI decoder of the transmission videoserver to record in XDCAM. Etere database is even updated with a new media with the media position being tracked.
Etere auto archive can also work with other automation solutions, reading the metadata from their playlist and storing them inside Etere database. With Etere automation running, the whole system is faster and simpler.
