Radios and tuners with the RDS logo and wording can receive and display RDS information, which will often include the station name, current time, or name of a program currently being broadcast.

RDS features enhanced functionality for FM receivers and includes user-friendly features such as Program Identification, Program Service, Name and automatic tuning for portable and car radios. RDS enables traffic reports to be received more quickly. Furthermore, it allows the radio station name to be displayed on the radio display.
